Will header make v-tec louder?
Hello a few weeks ago i dropeed a B16 in to my civic, and YES i do have a short ram intake, however my v-tec is not very loud at all, i mean it works and i can hear it kick in but barely (its way louder on my buddys D16).
Now ofcourse i want to get a header for performance reasons however will it make my v-tec louder at all? Maybe a bit? or a good amount, noticable difference?
Thanks

well it should make it louder because of the restriction before, since u have less of a restriction. u can hear it better. when i ran with a stock header, i couldnt hear it. after i put DC headers on my SOHC and an intake, i heard it more. but it wasnt that much louder, but atleast it was noticeable. if u wanted to make it scream. u need better cams
bigger exhaust piping, no cat intake, and all that will make vtec louder, but just as long as it works thats all that matters really... just like if you had a quiet blow off valve, as long as the valve is opening and its working is all that really matters

typically the louder your vtec is the worse your tune is.
a properly tuned vtec motor should transition smoothly from non vtec to vtec.
big cams (i.e. stage 3 or bigger) which have a big variations from low lobe to high lobe will make the transition louder but you should still be looking for the smoothest transition possible.
