Are the B18B gearboxes as strong as a Y21 gearbox?

yes
all b series transmissions are interchangable.
all the honda trannys are weak, none are stronger than another

Yea you are gonna take forever to rev up with that tranny.. It's for B18B's or crazy *** turbo motors that will spool up forever. I wouldn't do it.

 

1) if its a STOCK honda transmission it only lasts a couple runs before it needs a rebuild (ask jinxproof and his former 10 second hatch) you cant put that much power through a transmission.
2) you can have a custom one made thats totally bulletproof but there 4000$+-

 

They are all about the same in strength.

last dyno read 438hp @ 18psi
But im needing a new tranny
Most important that I can put an aftermarket LSD in it
I have access to 100% NEW unused gearboxes

That's funny. You guys act all surprised when I say no Honda can run 10's. But nobody bats an eye when Kamin says that stock Honda trannies need a rebuild every two runs. Both claims are pure BS. I'm thinkin one of two things here. 1) Nobody here has any experience with a fast Honda. Or 2) Kamin was just joking. Hahah good one, K!

anyway, the Quaife dealer tells me that he can get one for a GSI (New Zealand model Integra with a B18B) and also tells me that all the insides of the boxes are interchangeable.
is he full of BS?

 

You know you can use the LSD from a cable Y1 tranny. Same FD, and all that is necessary is a bit of machine work on the inside case.

A used Y1 LSD is about $400-500, machine work and assembly is about $200-300.

So for what you would pay for a Quaife, you could have a OEM installed.

The OEM Y1 LSD is a gear drive as well.

 

My LS tranny (Quaife LSD is the only mod) has seen many many 450+hp passes with absolutely no problems. So I'm not sure where Kamin got the idea that a tranny has to be rebuilt every two passes.

B18C-EJ1 that's a BS photoshop dude. I still don't believe you that a Honda can run 10's. Even 12's. OMG get real!

From what ive found out the B18B (LS, Y80) tranny has smaller syncros than the Y21 etc, but has the 4.266 final drive and more turbo friendly gear ratios (slightly better gearing) and you can get a Quaife LSD and probably a Kaaz LSD too?
Now what I need to know is about this Pro Drive stuff?
Where can I find out about it on the internet?
