yes it is. the b18b comes with iron ductile sleeves and a block guard stock, the 18 is deceiving too because its actually a 84.5mm bore as opposed to the 74.745mm bore of the b18a(also deceiving). you can boost up to 3 BAR with good tuning on a stock b18b. or, you could search.

but ummm. they are the same.

so therefore the B18a has longer rods to achieve the same displacement?

Furthermore, if i do a performance build on a B18 it isnt of much benefit to go with a b18b??? I have a 90 integra coming in I am going to strip...this is why i am asking.

Thanks

oh my. that was mean.

the blocks are the same internally. externally there are a few differences, for instance the b18a has a different drivers side motor mount then the B18b.

DIRep is right, internally...they are more/less the same, few external differences...the head is where the real difference in the two is at...

yeah, people did it to me when i was fairly new, so it is my duty to do it to you. they are the same though. boost happy motors(to a point). but you really can find alot about most of your Qs in the archives(generally not too much will show up under recent).

The block is internally the same. I don't know why honda even bothered to change the engine code.

yeah arent the heads a bit different or is the intake manifold. Doesnt the ecu that comes in the 92 up make the hp difference.

90-91 (130 hp rated) have different cams than 92-93 (140 hp rated) b18a's. the b18b head is slightly different and the cams are a bit better yet. but if you're planning on building anyway, the b18a is your best bet; you can get them on http://www.car-part.com for under 400 bucks; about half the going rate of a solid b18b.

if you're planning on boosting a stock motor and then building it later (notice i don't offer the option of simply boosting a stock motor and that's it.....there's a reason for this, hint hint. ) b18b would give you better performance right away, and then building it up yields better gains yet.

also the map sensor is on the firewall (not TB), intake mani slightly diff, and the TB is smaller on a b18a. Valve cover different, and also i believe the b18a uses a slightly higher flowing oil pump, gsr pump perhaps? that might be BS tho...

i had 2 oil pump failures, so if that's true then gsr pumps suck.

edit: lots of people confuse the 92-93 integra (in general) with the 92-93 gsr (b17a).....i'm sure someone of your caliber, jeff, wouldn't do that, but that might be where you're getting the gsr pump thing. $.02

to hijack a thread from the dead...

what are the differences in the heads of the b18a and b18b? Does the b flow significantly better, or is it just the cams and ECM?
