Default will aluminm work for downpipe gasket?

i have a weird t3/t4 turbo with a mercedes style flange. i can't find the gasket anywhere. can i use a an aluminum gasket? i have a sheet of aluminum that 0.43 thick. i can easily cut it to shape but will it work? i was thinking of also giving it a coat of copper spray

aluminum would melt I think... Copper or stainless is the choice I'd think.
