wideband tuner???
your stock O2 sensor does NOT read A/F, it only tells ya if it's rich or lean. If your A/F is greater than 14.7:1 then it will read about 1 volt (lean), and if it's less than 14.7:1 then it will read about 0 volts (rich).
A wide band O2 will actually read your A/F so it can be use to tune your car's A/F, were the stock can not.

like the person said above, commonly used stock o2 sensors are more of a switch except cars like 92-95 HB Vx...(which came with widebody o2 sensor)
widebody o2 sensor actually puts out different voltage for different a/f ratio so that you could accurately read what a/f ratio u have at the moment. If you have ever seen the fancy light show of an Autometer A/F monitor, you know what I mean...just bounces like crazy...
Go to dynos with a wideband o2 sensor, Most places should have them.

okay, here's the thing. i have a friend that says he doesnt have a dyno, but he has a wideband tuner. i am asking if it will do the same thing as a dyno. i want a VAFC and he said that he has a wideband tuner, and i thought to my self, if it's a wideband TUNER, then maybe it can tune my VAFC. also, how does nit work. and what is a lamba ? thanks

the dyno is different in that you dont just tune a/f mixture ont he dyno, you can do things such as cam gears, ignition timing maps for those with programmable engine managemnet systems,e tc... in your case on VAFC for dyno and if you have adj cam gears that can be tuned as well.
Also consider that the air around a dyno can be very different from that in the street day-to-dya driving.

depends on which one you get
1st you have a special o2 sensor like 200$
2nd you have a control box under your dash 250$
3rd you have a display of some sort 50-200$
