Default Why put ATF in your motor?

Just in general when I read threads about people having to change or adjust parts of the drivetrain, or other things, people always tell them to put ATF in the motor and let it run for a bit. What does putting ATF in with your motor oil do?

The ATF removes all of the condensation that has built up in the motor.

not to be an a$$ but why put atf in a motor when they belong to a tranny. if you need to flush your engine just go to your local auto parts and obtain a engine flush.i think the name of the maker is under gunk products.

Your not actually suppost to put it in the motor like oil. You run it through your intake track and into your combustion chamber to clean it out. Disconnect a vacumm line and stick it in the bottle. Rev it to 2k or so and let it run. I've never actually done this so not sure how good it work.

Yes, you don't drain all of your oil and use atf. You drain a quart of oil and add in a quart of ATF or engine flush. I used this stuff from amsoil
