Default SMall boost? big significant difference?

Hi all , I know this is a pretty dumb question but i am new here and i wanted to setup a turbo that give me around 5psi......i know its rather low boost...but my engine has a 9.5:1 com ratio and i dont know whether it will take the beating......i am planning to use a smic with a FMU and boost around 5-7 on a 1.3 litre car....does it really add more than 20-30 horses using 5 psi...... the stock hp of the engine is 90hp .....thanks a lot

p/s: can i hear the pssh sound if i boost only 5 psi......?? or it cant be heard at all?

Welcome.

I don't know anything about your car, but 5 psi boost should make a big difference. The one suggestion I have is to do A LOT of research before you do any modifications. This is the best site for information. Do searches on your specific engine, and any questions on your set up. I guarantee you will find tons of comments in the archives. Some of the information will be conflicting, so do a lot of reading before you spend any money. Also if you are going to stay around 5 psi you might want to consider supercharging instead of turbo. There have been a million arguments here about which is better. In my opinion turbo is better at high boost, but sc is best at 5 psi.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out. And one more thing; never, ever ask a question here without searching first. Thes guys love to share their knowledge, but they don't like answering the same question over and over again.

Hey thanks all for the info.........i have done lots of research and I would think it would work.......cause there isnt a supercharger ffor my engine and i am custom building a turbo for it............its just that i jus twant know know how much of a difference is 5 psi as i dont have any friends with a boosted engine here.......... the max i would up it is 6 psi......cause i am planning to use FMU only as i want to keep the budget low and dont know if my comp ratio is too high and if the engine will take in the extra ommphh........i will update u guys on the progress.......thanks again....
