why do the valves look like this?
I pulled a head from a b16a and this is what i discovered.

A closer view of the valves that don't look right.

What would make the exhaust valves do that? Is this bad? Do i need to replace the valves? Just the exhaust or intake too?
All of the other valves look fine to me, except for the ones on cylinder #2. I am using this head on a b16a block that i know is good. This head came from a questionable engine that apparently was making noise.
Any help is appreciated.

i can't tell if is glare of the flash or what is it, but it looks like there was some water sipping into cyl 2, check to see if is warped also check the Head gasket to see if you see where it wasn't sealing.
I could be wrong, pics can be deceiving.

yeah actually the headgasket was blown. So thats just buildup from the headgasket being blown? Thats what i figured....cool. The head is ok, i've checked it out already.
Thanks, now its time to finish assembly.

just to check, that chamber looks cleaner and has different deposits, right? if so, then yeah. (water sipping into that chamber)
