Why do Hondas grind in third gear?

Default Why do Hondas grind in third gear?

Most everyone I know has their third gear grinding first of all gears. Why?

Third gear is almost always the first to go out, on all cars.

From my experience, this order; third, first, then second.

Because........
You can outshift the tranny with the stock shifter.
Pushing is easier than pulling.
No means no!
If it won't go in, don't force it, and your gears won't grind.

2nd gear has double synchros... third only has one...

uh, cuz the syncros wear out.
This happens a lot w/Honda cable series trannies for some reason.

1st and 2nd have dual cone syncros 3rd has single.

Flush the fluid often and don't treat it like a T-5 (Mustang) tranny.

yea, if you change the hub and synchro ring it will not be there...

you actually need to learn how to shift so that it wont grind.
if you wait a beat at the top of 2nd, you wont grind third. if it
still does, changing the hub and ring will become eminent soon.

been there.

Third gear is the VTEC gear, thats why.

VTEC Gear? What is a Vtec Gear? Powershifting 2nd is a straight pull down, third is over then up, leaving more room for missed shifts/grinds...

i power shift to third.. actually i power shift to 2nd all the way to 4th ..i never miss or grind.. pratice practice....
