after i beat on my car a little.. my idle will jump from 1000 to 2000 rpm and keep going up and down for at least 5 mins... some say because of running too rich.. let me kno wut u guys think... thanks

b20 block - eagle rods - wiseco 12:1 pistons
99 b16 head - skunk2 springs/retainers - skunk 2 stage 2 cams
str fuel rail - b&m f/p/reg - rc 310cc injectors
aem c/a/i - aebs typhoon intake man. - jdm type r headers
msd 6a ignition

 

sounds like that motor should get some hondata and tuning...it will run alot better.

for the idling problem, it could be alot of different things...

cap, rotor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, Idle Air Control valve, intake ait temperature sensor, fast idle sensor, and the list goes on. are you throwing any codes?

 

probably a sensor making it do that
do you throw a cel when it behaves like that?
does it just stop on its own? or when you shut the car off and then start it again or let it cool off??

 

usually it stops on its own but yesterday i had to turn it off and turn it back on..

 

ya most likely a sensor.

clean out your throttle body.

 

im having the same problem....i have no clue whats going on with it yet.

 

I am having that problem too. After a check, mine is running rich. It has to be something simple.

 

im having this problem too. its way not cool hope somebody figures it out.

 

the only code im throwing is the egr. and thats because i dont have it hooked up yet.

none.. but everytime it happens i can shut the car off and start it back up and it wont do it anymore..

 

Check the fast idle valve. See if the inside portion popped out. That can cause the surge.

 

Turns out my problem was the iacv was unplugged. idles fine now.
