Why B16B?
My question is why did honda make the B16b? With the same deck height as the B18C5 it weighs the same just makes less power and much less torque. What advantages does the B16 have over the B18C5 other than revving higher?

Honda is not going to put a motor in their Civic that will rival their performance integra.
Alot of companies are reluctant to put large motor in certain cars because they are afraid it will affect the sales of their other cars.
Ford was left with a bunch of 3.0liter 220hp engines and they had no car to put them in. They looked through which cars they have and decided to put it in the heavy Taurus. Why? Because if they put the 220hp Yamaha built engine into a lighter car it would drastically affect mustang sales.

I am just curious as to how Ford could have been 'left' with a bunch of Yamaha SHO motors. It is not like they could have built too many of them.

I asked the same question. The only somewhat satisfying answer I got is that there's a racing series that allows a maximum displacement of 1.6l.
The B16B redlines as high as the B18C5, and there is/was a 1.8 Civic in Europe. The explanation that they don't want to upstage the ITR might be valid...but it kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
