Default White lithuium grease, Breaks down plastic?

Today when I went to the local car suppply shop to get some white lithium grease to lube up my swaybar bushings the guy told me that white lithium grease breaks down plastic and recomened that I use a silicon lubricant over the grease. Any thoughts?
I read somewhere that most people use the white lithium grease to lube their bushings.
