Default Whine from engine after Timingbelt replaced

I took my car to the local auto repair for my 95kmi maintenance (timing belt, tensioner belt, water pump, valve adjustment, etc.) Beforehand, it was making a loud ticking/clacking noise and I was 99% sure it was the valves. After getting the car back from the shop, the loud clacking noise went away but there is a very slight clicking noise (I'm not worried about it - the mechanic said its the fuel injectors). However, there is also a whining noise coming from the belt. It speeds up as I go faster... it sounds like I'm blown (which is cool) but is this normal for recent timing belt replacement? Do new belts tend to sound like this until they're worn in? It might just be in my head.. but my car just feels slower. Could the valve adjustment have been wrong or what? BTW - I'm a newb

Whining noise could be the waterpump, i had the same problem a long time ago when i bought an aftermarket pump. It whined like a blower. I ordered an oem honda pump and had no more problems.

Before belt change = timing belt too loose (loud valvetrain noise)
After belt change = timing belt too tight (whine)

I had the same problem on my B18A years ago, I overtightened the belt. The quiet clicking is your fuel injectors opening and closing, that's 100% normal.

Have the shop tighten the belt properly to see if the noise goes away... if it doesn't, it may be a faulty waterpump.

The mechanic might've tightened it too much. It squeaks pretty loud when I start it up and still sounds like a blower when I'm driving. He said that all parts installed were genuine Honda OEM parts so I don't think it's the water pump (unless he dicked me over).

Ahh... I forgot about the balancer shaft on those 2.2's and 2.3's... Good call.

also the tensioners on the preludes timing belt are hydralic so no adjustment is involved. the balancer is adjustable

So does this affect performance/reliability? I guess I'll give him a call and tell him that multiple knowlegeable people told me that the balancer shaft belt was over tightened.

it might be off-center on a pulley and rubbing against the timing cover plastic.
