i was told to do first 40 grit then 80 for the intake side and leave it at 80 ? is this true? same with exhaust side but then like a 120 to make it a mirror finish...??

I personally don't mirror polish anything I do, I use 60-80 on intake and a 120 on the exhaust and combustion chambers. Hope that helps.

Yes, intake sid edoes have to remain rough or have some sort of crosshatch to promote turbulence.

The exhaust side can be polished and smooth, but do not make the exhaust port any larger than stock, or you will lose velocity and scavenging.

there is no point in mirror finishing the exhaust when after a few miles it gonna be covered in carbon.

wouldnt less carbon stick if it was smoother? or because of the extremely high temps it just melts on either way?
