anyone know if a intake for a 99 civic hatchback will work for a 4D non hatchback? and should i buy an intake first? or an exhaust system? what would be the improvements of having an intake and the improvements of having an exhaust?

i know i will get better airflow with an intake but can you be more specific? sorry..im new at these stuff. like will i gain more RPMs and save more gas? what will i benefit or save from having a intake? thanks...

if <U></U>gas<U></U> is wats ur conserned about.. i think ur moving the wrong way.. intake increases air flow because u will be "intaking" larger masses of air during the intake stroke of ur engine. having the combo of the two (intake/exhaust) creates an advant. because it increases flow on both sides basically.. more in more out and faster.. thats to say if you didnt just get an ax-back exhaust cause thats nothing but sound really..

to answer your question about what will fit, it all depends on what model. same motor-same intake. Or atleast if the intake manifold is the same it will have the same intake. For instance an ex intake will not fit a dx. If its coming off of a hatch its either a dx, or cx. Which has a d16y7, just check your engine code and that will answer your question. The code is stamped on the block(front right side).

p.s. Go with the intake first, more air means more combustion easier. The advantage of the intake is the air moves through easier and quiker, and comes in cooler(at a lower temp.) plus they sound good. It will give you that throaty sound at low rpm
