Default when installing pistons,rods.....

do you have to yank out the engine to replace pistons&rods?
or can you leave the engine in and put it on a lift???

u CAN do it with the head and oil pan off but its always best of course to pull the motor and build everything step by step starting from scratch.

if u do it with the motor still in the car id recommend a good honer and a bore dial gauge to make sure the cylinders arent out of round because if they are u should definitely pull the motor and have a machine shop clean up the cylinders for u
