The heading pretty much tells it all. My girlfriend just bought a new 2002 Accord, at how many miles should she get her first oil change?

 

Just a daily driver? 3000

 

It's in the manual. (Oil change intervals). And yes, there really is a 'break-in' oil in there that shouldn't be changed out too soon. From what I understand, it is has more of a detergent action than regular oil.

 

So 3000 is the final answer? NEbody else?

 

it never hurts to change it earlier...yes 3000 is fine,

 

Don't worry about the oil as much as how she drives it. The manual will tell EVERYTHING to properly break-in the engine. Basically don't rev it for a while because you need to allow the valves/rings/springs/bearings to seat properly.

 

Sounds good... i got her driving non-aggressively for the time being anyway.. haha.. she's all paranoid bout messing up her car when she has to break it in. Thanks for the input guys... more would be appreciated too. Thanks.
