Default When buying a full engine swap is it best to get new?

I saw someone just recently who was selling a Honda H22A Vtech Engine swap that had low mileage on it. He was selling for $2,100. I have a 91 Honda Civic Lx, I was told that I should probably get a LS motor or a B16 engine swap. But I heard H22's were real good, but I would have to get some welding done to fit it into my engine.

What I wanted to know, is: Should I go ahead and purchase this or get a new H22?

Price out everything you would need to buy new to do the swap and then compare to the used parts. Complete motor, starter, alternater, transmission, axles, flywheel and clutch, intake manifold, injectors, complete wiring harness, clutch hydraulics, assorted sensors and I forget whatever else. Used parts are always a crapshoot where you hope they are OK. The advantage of course is the cost.

First off, good luck affording a new H22 as a complete one new from Honda will probably cost somewhere around six or seven thousand dollars for just the motor. Then you need a transmission, manifolds, wiring, ECU, axles, dizzy, throttle body, etc, etc, etc.

Do yourself a favor and find a reputable engine importer and you should be able to find a reasonable price on a complete swap.

Also do some research and take some time to figure out which engine will suit you and your car the best. Don't buy an engine because someone else said is was good.

Also remember that a lot of engine importers will offer some kind of warranty on the motor, so you shouldn't have to worry.

that swap is a pain. Just do a b16 or b18a. it is so much easier. obd0 still too.
