what's wrong with my car.. ???
93 Civic hatchback DX
here's my problem. my car won't start after i have it parked outside in the heat (25-30 degrees celcius) while i'm at work for about 9 hours. it takes about 20 minutes of constant cranking to finally get it going, but i dont think it's going to even start up next time.
however, early in the morning in my garage when it's cooler it starts up with no problems.
here's what happens. i turn the key with the clutch all the way down and it just chirps and chirps, but never catches. some have said fuel pump, others spark plugs. any other suggestions. THANKS A LOT!!!

Most will tell you to replace the main relay...
I will try to be more accurate than that...
Do you hear the fuel pump priming (turn the key to the "on" position if you here it going it's priming if not it's probobly the main relay)
Try to release the pressure from your gas tank before trying to start it... (open the gas cap up/off... then put it back on and try to start it... if this works then it's pressure building in the system due to the heat... I'm not sure what part if any is meant to bleed off excesss pressure from the fuel system.). If this is the case then just unscrew your gas cap before starting it...
My guess would be there's a problem with the evap system if removing the gas cap allows you to start...
give it a shot and post back with the results.

ya, it's the main relay. i bought one from honda this week just haven't found time to install it yet. for now on really hot days i just wait around and let it cool down while knocking the main relay a bit to close the expanded joints. also, i open up the gas tank to release the pressure from the heat and that seems to help a lot. thanks guys and ill let you know what happens once i install the new main relay.
