not sure but i believe the 4-1 headers make more power. i know they have less flanges which means less gaskets to worry about. and their lighter too(as if the 1lb matters). i think they are smoother flowing because of there being no middle flange.

4-1 headers are more of a straight flow so they create power top end and 4-2-1 are more of mid range so you don't have to rev so much .... that my opinion but for more top end power go 4-1 ..........

basically: For 4-1 it goes from 4 pipes(exhaust manifold) all the way to the end of the header into one exit pipe. For 4-2-1 it goes from 4 pipes(exhaust manifold) to 2 pipes, 2 on the left are joined and 2 on the right are joined leaving you with 2 pipes that finally ens up as one pipe at the end of the header.

I know that wasn't the best explanation

Another thing: A 4-2-1 header can be 2 pieces(where 4 becomes 2) or one piece welded.

If your car is really slammed think about sacrificing some power and getting the 4-2-1 header because the 4-1 comes really close to the ground.

4-1 = Top End power
4-2-1 = Mid Range power

Hence, I say go for the 4-1 if you have a VTEC car (where your power is up top anyways), and a 4-2-1 if you have an LS motor or a motor with power in the Mid-range.

I dont know where your power is made, but you have VTEC, so I assume it kicks in at 5-6K or maybe later. Regardless, why would you get a header that works at midrange, when your engine kicks in at later RPMs?

what about the jg header thats modified by import builders. its a 4-2-1 and ive herd it pulls better than the jdm 4-1 on the top end and mid. which one would you guys rather have?
