I heard closed decks are better for boost and open decks better for N/A. How do you know which is which for example in a b-series?

 

B series are open deck unless you have a dart block

 

and h-series?

 

some H series came close decks but the olds ones, heard that it was kinda trouble motor when it came to racing it. open decks came on the last gens, correct me if im wrong.

 

Closed deck it when you cant really see the water jackets on when you take the head off. All you see is holes around the top of the block IE the deck of the block is closed... Open deck is like all b-series engines you can see down into the water jackets. Closed deck engines sometimes have over heating problems but offer more stability (kinda). If you want more of an explination I will have to get into the theory of metals and so forth..
