I have a 91 integra LS with the original motor. What wouuld you guys do with that chassis? DD and all on 91 pump gas.... Would you,

Fully build a b16 motor w/ ctr pistons ....
LS/Vtec <-- Go into the block?? or Just swap heads w/ vtec kit
B20 Vtec turbo?
Anything else you would do besides those?

change EVERY rubber bushing on the motor and chassis and make it a clean street sleeper. A clean/fast DA is hard to find these days. Damn, I'm getting old.

I wouldn't step down to a 1.6.

If you decide to go ls/vtec don't just throw the head on and be done with it, search for bambam's "how to build a reliable ls/vtec" thread and it'll give you a pretty clear idea.

I say stick with a 1.8 whether it be ls/vtec or even if you considered a poor-mans type R. Whats you're funds by the way? Do you just have a couple grand or are you looking for a way to dump 10, cuz if so, do a K

I though that the DA was a 1.6L?

the JDM DA Xsi or whatev had a b16. Our GSR had a b17. All other models were B18A.

I'd say I have about $2,000 I want to put into a japanese b20vtec right now.. so I'm not going to e-tune it so to speak. A b20 vtec with a b16 head sounds good to me though because of the weight of the car. I'm ridding the bay of power steering and a/c and down the line might actually gut the interior but right now I want to keep it as stock as possible, even rims... I'm even keeping the original hub-caps... That's my goal but I keep changing it everyday almost, very indecisive as to what I really want to do so I thought I would just save my paychecks and wait untill I'm more certain.

So I thought I'd get some opinions. I'm feelin' the first suggestion though, that should rid of all the minor squeeks as I'm driving over bumps... I just need to know where to find out where they're located so I can change them up and start fresh.

As far as the every rubber bushing swap, that sounds like a really good idea. Over they years they're probably all shot by now. My question is, besides the engine bay stuff, how do I change all the rubber chassis bushings? Where exactly are they located?

What do you guys think of an h22? I went to LARC in palmdale yesterday and saw some cars run and met some people down there who sparked the h22 swap in my da.

hey i have a da!

~so i spend all day thinking of what to do to the engine too

well i why dont you just turbo the 1.8...i mean if the engines in good shape and you have the really long cable tranny..so it work be alittle ballanced, or if you dont mind doing engine swaps...you could go with the B20...

since its a daily driver the da has all the torque, and that really makes it fun, instead of having a B16 and and only having fun redlineing it to dairy queen isnt that practical...

H22's might be alittle harder then just dropping in a B16A...

or you could build up the Ls..most people find thats fun...

it really depends on how dirty and how much you want to spend on it...

i say turbo, depending on how well its running..

Would building a h22 be like building a b-series? i.e. would I be able to bump the compression to 11.5 for example and keep running 91 octane pump gas? Are there as many options as a b-series for cams and internal upgrades? I really want this car to bone out if you know what I mean-when I need it to atleast.

The reason I don't want to turbo my 1.8 is it's not in good condition so that isn't going to happen. It just won't be safe and in the end a waste of time and money really, the engine is strong but I can feel she's on her last leg, it's a very old LS.

I've ruled out the b16 because it's such a small displacement-even if I do bump it up to 11.5 with ctr pistons I'm afraid I'm not going to get what I want out of it, revving high sounds fun and probably is going to sound like a monster up high but I'm leaning towards the b20vtec with after-market pistons and head work-or the h22. Being a 2.2L engine, in the long run I think it will be more fun but I want to make sure it's as versatile as a b-series engines as far as parts.

thx everyone, keep it coming

i would lean more towrds a B20, because its easyer putting in than a h22, i see alot more of them in da's and alot of people with it.

and i think that thiers more parts for the b20...its not 100% b-series but alot of things are compatable.

just make sure its bullet-proof before you drop it in, just so nothing will be in the way....if you want to turbo it

just my 2 cents...
