What transmission is Y80?
I just got it yesterday. Supposedly it's off a GSR.
I got it from a friend who purchased a complete B18C changeover, but this morning we had a GSR in for service, and the tranny said S80 on it, so I am stumped.
The GSR that was in for service was a 94. This tranny is "supposedly" a 96.
Anyone got a clue? Thanks!

the Helms manual lists both as trannies for the GSR I believe. They also list the same codes for the LS motor.
Seeing as how you have access to the manuals there at Acura, check the specs towards the front, where it goes over the transmissions. I think that's where I saw it.

Tranny codes are pretty wack as far as whats what. By looking at the ff-squad site and comparing tranny codes, its hard to tell one from another sometimes. Here are the possibilities.
Y80 could be from:
US 97-01 ITR
JDM 95-97 ITR
JDM 92-00 SiR/CTR
US 94-01 GS-R
JDM 93.5-01 SiR/SiG
S80 can be from
JDM 98-01 ITR
US 97-01 ITR
JDM 95-97 ITR
JDM 92-00 SiR/CTR
US 94-01 GS-R
JDM 93.5-01 SiR/SiG
JDM 93.5-01 SiR/SiG
US 94+ LS/GS/Spec.Ed.
Although, a friend of mine has a 95 GSR with a Y80 which is only supposed to be from a US GS-R, but it seems as though it has LS gears in it. So who knows. Hope this helps, kinda...

Well, I've come to the conclusion that the only way I can TRULY know is by cracking open the transmission and counting the number of teeth on the mainshaft 5th gear and countershaft 5th gear. Since GSR, LS and ITR all have different ratios for 5th gear, I will be able to tell right away.
Thanks for the help, guys!

Problem solved. It's a GSR transmission. Just not sure what year. But it's in fine shape, and if anyone wants to buy it, it's for sale.
