What timing belt do I need?
OK, dont ask me how I came to having such a mix match motor, but here it goes. B18C1 head, B16A block, B18A crank pulley. Any Ideas? I can get a B16 crank pulley if needed, but if I can keep what I have, id rather use the B18A one since it has a rubber dampener inside to help with vibrations, the B16's dont. TIA

Well, I got the B16 block for my birthday, Im getting the GSR head for a WAY built LS head trade and the B16 crank pulley doesnt have a rubber dampener like I want, so I am using the old B18 pulley. Ive heard they make pretty good power. GSR cams, according to crower.com, are bigger than Si cams, and my compression will be 10.5 after im done. The JDM b16 has 10.4:1 and smaller cams and makes 170hp, so i Think thats a safe estimate (without taking into account all of the performance parts that are going to be swapped over). The dual stage manifold from the GSR head will help with the B16s lack of torque as well. Should prove to be a fun b16.
id like to see if the IAB really helps the b16 or not. i guess it might but im not really sure. if it would help, why wouldnt honda put it on from the factory? let us knnow when its done. and post up a dyno sheet if you get the chance to tune it.
Honda probably just didnt think it was necessary. The b16 was never made to be a torque motor, it was the high revving high-horsepower powerplant. Plus, the B16 was made years before the GSR engine. They probably thought it was a cost they didnt need. Remeber, Honda DOES have good engineering but they have even better finance guru's. Cheap bastards. The better question would be why didnt they put the B16 head on the GSR block to make the GSR.

Thats what im hoping. Im aiming for the "most torque in an N/A B16 award"
But seriously, 170-180 HP isnt out of the question- with OEM parts no-less. Ill try for 190 crank HP with OEM parts later, but I dont know if thats going to happen without me getting spendy.

what timming belt you use its decided by what waterpump you use.
b16 has fewer teeth than that of gsr.
my current set up is as follows
b18c1 block
b16a2 head (new valvetrain)
(need cams)
no $$ for high compression pistons
or it would had been what they call a poormans type R
p28 skunk2 chipped.
this set up kicks *** so far halfway thru 3rd gear on a b17a1 tranny already doing
80mph.

So the GSR pump is better, and I would still run a B16 belt becuase of the deck height? Or would I go with the GSR belt becuase of the pump teeth.
the pumps are the same as IN VTEC sayd, the timming belt you use is the b16 unless you use a non vtec pump in wich you'll be all screwed up
