What parts to look at when you suspect TOE problems?
I searched around a bit and then only thing I saw was adjusting Tie Rod or maybe axle problems?
What do you guys look at and in what order to check when you suspect TOE issue?
My 99 accord pulls to the left and the inside of the driver's side tire is wearing quickly. Also, there is a rather rythmic vibration coming from the driver's side while driving whether coasting, acceleration, decelerating. Im pretty positive its not a balance issue with the tires and I think an aligment might help, but it might be a little more severe...I had an aligment done 30k ago, about 15 months.
I want to buy 4 new tires as well but I want to make sure alignment problems are null before I do so.
Again, what can i check, BEFORE i go get an alignment and new tires and what should I look for? I dont have a Helms either...anyone have a downloadable copy for a 99 accord?
Thanks for any help guys!

Could it be more than just an alignment issue tho?
I mean, I have no problem getting it done, its just, why get an alignment, then realize something is wrong...have it fixed and then get another alignment. I dont like paying for things twice...

i have the same problem bro, but its in my rex........ i have the same symptons as you do, kinda funny...........i have the same rythmic sound when my car is rolling coasting etc......... kinda seems like something is warped????? its makes like a Whubb Whubb Whubb sound then gets louder when the car decelerates..............you get that toooo?????
Yup, it actually sounds louder or more apparant at lower speeds...im thinking it might be a worn axle or steering something or other.
I also have an issue with my tranny (i think) so i cant quite tell what is affecting what...

You could try checking the outer tie rod ends yourself - pull the wheel and see if there is any play in the joint (side-to-side pulling on the hub/rotor will reveal this). You might also check the ball joint (at the bottom of the hub where it attaches to the suspension arm) for play - there should be no play at all, again check by grabbing the hub/rotor and trying to wiggle it. You could also get a pry bar and try to work the joints, or watch while jacking/lowering the car as the suspension loads and unloads. Low tech, but if anything is very worn it will be obvious. Are you sure the noise isn't a wheel bearing? Those rumble quite a bit, and get worse the faster you go. The bearing noise can also change when the weight shifts, noticeable when changing lanes on the freeway for instance. Might be a combination of problems.
EDIT: just remembered, you might also check the rear wheel bearings if you suspect bearing noise. I had one go bad, and swore the noise was coming from the front. spinning the wheel can reveal a bad bearing, as can wiggling the hub to check for any loose feeling.

the noise you are saying sounds to me like it is a hub bearing. if you a driving and it making the noise and you turn the steering wheel to the left and the right does the noise stop and get louder depending weither you have the wheel to the left or right? I have had to replace a few hub bearing on a few differant cars i had and that was how they acted. with the humming noise. but for the 99 accord i don't think that would be the problem cause i think it is too new for that. but you never know.

i'm with him, the humming you describe sounds like a bearing, even if it is 99 i still think it might be...

haha i had the same problem
i had a tripple whammy
my hub bearing was soo bad that i could wiggle the wheel about 3/4 inch
and my lower ball joint was worn which in tur screwed up my toe
thaqt is what i get for putting gsr front brakes from a junkyard on without checking them

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me. What you should do is jack the car up one side at a time, grab the tire first at the 3 o clock and 9 o clock positions, and wiggle it side to side to check for play. Then grab the tire at the 12 and 6 o clock positions and check for play up and down. Good luck.
Thanks alot you guys...the wheel bearing things sounds like that could be what it is. It does change tones while switching lanes and turning and just may be apparant more at lower speeds.
Is the bearing something you should replace in pairs? Or can you get away with one side if its just that?
Thanks again...

You don't need to replace them in pairs - which is good, as they can be on the expensive side. The rears are probably a matter of replacing the hub assembly, as I imagine it's a sealed unit; with the front, my guess is that you'll need to have a shop press the old one out of the hub and press the new one in.
