Default What motor do i have?

i have a 93 civic hatch with a jdm b16a swap. i bought the car with the swap done, and the guy i bought it from does know what car or year it was out of. how can i find out? and i was just wondering if anyone knows what oem parts fit on the motor. things like spark plus and stuff. when i go to the parts store they want to know if its a b16a1, b16a2, or b16a3. i havnt a clue what they are talking about becase stamped on the motor is just b16a. no 1, 2, or 3??

Look on the head.... As long as a head swap hasn't happened then this is your best bet... You'll see like four cirlces with line through them above where the header bolts to your head... If you have a stock header with a heatshield you may have to remove the heatshield to see them.... It'll be the one farthest right as you look at the motor from the front of the car... They will look something like this (9|0) indicating that it is a 90 motor, most likely coming out of a 91 car and so on... The reason it has no suffix is because it's J-Spec... For some reason they don't like the add them to their motors (I really don't know why) Just as the JDM GSR and JDM ITR have the same engine stamp (B18C) you have one with no suffix either... If you have any problems trying to figure out what i just said lemme know... Peace

becase its a 93, more than likely your b16a is from an SiRII. No worries though, parts like spark plugs, timing belt, and blah blah can all be sourced from the 94-97 Del Sol Vtec and 99-00 Si. The De Sol is the b16a3 and the 99-00 Si has the b16a2, fyi. They are essentially the same motor, just different compression.

cool thanks for the info. i got another question, and i have searched honda tech and now one seems to have this problem except me. My car has a strange idle problem. After I warm it up it idles really low, about 400rpm. This isn’t a big deal I can just adjust my idle for that, the only problem is i cant find my idle adjust screw on my ITR intake manifold, but after about 30 to 40 min of driving it will idle around 800 rpm which it should be all the time I know, but I’m afraid if I adjust the idle it will then idle too high some times. But the weird part is when I’m rolling at any speed with the clutch in my car idles at 1500 to 1750, and as soon as my speedo hits 0 mph, that’s when my idle drops to either 400 or 800 depending on how my car is feeling I guess. It seems to be very random and it doesn’t fluctuate like a vacuum leak. It holds the rpm right at 400 or 800. 800 is fine, I just don’t understand the 400rpm? Any ideas?

hmmmm.... I wonder if your clutch is torqued down a bit too much over stock... It would be just enough to make the motor drag a bit... I'm not positive on this because whenever i've seen people overtorque the PP then normally the car won't even start because there is just too much drag.... What happens right when you start your car and you hold the clutch in?? does it still idle low?? Also you say you have an ITR TB, the idle adjust screw should just be on top kinda under the MAP sensor... Good Luck

it could be the clutch because i was just repalced but it only varies about 50 rpm wether its in or out. but it doesnt seem to really matter if the clutch is in or out. i looked for that idle adjust screw and i can not seem to see that damn thing, i'll look again though. i just dont know why it idles at 1500 to 1750 while rolling, then as soon as it hits 0mph it will drop right down to 400, the funny thing is though it doesnt seem rough or sound like its gonna die, i wonder if my tach could be wrong?
