Default What to look for when buying head?

searched all over but keep finding trouble shooting threads..anyway im buying a gsr head to start my b20v project and i wanted to know any tips or giveaways i should look for when inspecting the head? This is my first head or first time really dealing with parts of a motor. I know that warpage can be an issue, bent valves, etc but the guy says the head only has 800 miles because it was machined and had a slight port job not to long ago, i will attach some pics of the head and see what you guys think, Any tips are appreciated

Spend the money and have a machine shop inspect it before you buy it, if owner does not agree, find another head.

You can also buy from a dealer, that will give you warranty. 94

Quick and dirty way to check for bent valves is pour a little gas or other solvent in the intake and exhaust ports and see if it leaks in the combustion chamber. Also check for oil leaking down the valve stems in the port. Could indicate leaking valve seals or worn guides.

If you look in the port and see any oil leaking down the valve stems from the guide there is an issue.

That head looks like it has a lot more than 800 miles. Those chambers show it.

Was going to say that looks like a hard 800 miles. check around your area machine shops for pricing, I have a shop here that will do a quick look for $20 and $75 for a complete look see, with recommendations and warranty on the inspection if nothing needed. 94

He was actually being serious. That's how you test if valves are sealing.

No, you need to take the cams out so all the valves are closed.
