A leakdown test is basically a quick test to see if there is any fault in the head or the block. Bad valves for the head....bad piston rings for the block...etc.
You'll have to have a leakdown tester in order to perform this test. Take out the spark plugs. Set whatever cylinder you want to test at TOP DEAD CENTER. Plug in the leakdown into that spark plug tube and connect your leak down tester to an air compressor. Your gauge will tell how bad the leak is.
