Default What is the ideal RPM to set a vtec controller to ?????

Whats up guys. I want to buy a vtec controller . My friend told me that you could control VTEc to engage at earlier RPMs. What is the best RPM to set it to? If you set it to kick in too early is that bad for the motor?? What is ideal RPM for VTEc to engage? I have a B17a with type R head and complete valvetrain. So Vtec kicks in at like 5700RPM stock

Whatever the dyno agrees with. Run it with the low cam on till sa 7000 RPM, then run it from 4000 RPM to redline on the high cam. Where the two torque curves cross is where you should set the crossover point.
