What function do spring isolator bushings serve?
Is it used to level a car that isn't sitting perfectly level? Does this mod make the car feel stiffer or make it perform better in any way? Do I need this or is this bushing highly recommended?
Another question, I went to ES's site and they have shock bushings - do new shocks come with their own bushings? I'm getting Bilstein Sports soon and I don't want to purchase ES shock bushings if the shocks already come with it.
Btw, these mods in question are referring to the 99-00 Civic Si.
Thanks.

The spring isolator is just a new bushing for the top of the spring where it fits into the "hat". The shocks will not come with the lower bushings since they are part of the control arm. Not sure on the Bilsteins, but I know Tokico comes with the new top bushings where the strut shaft mounts to the "hat"
So I guess the spring isolator bushing is not used to level the car but rather for a performance purpose? Does this mod make a difference to the ride?
