what exactly is a "head"

what parts make up the head? where can i bet better heads, dpr/JG/etc, for my B18c5 and my boy's b18c1?

Most basically, the head is just the cast metal housing for all the valves, valve cover, valve guides, valve springs, valve retainers, rockers, cams, etc...

But I think you'll find that most people refer to everything inside as part of the head as well. The intake or exhaust manifold is not considered part of the head though..
