Default what does this mean? vtec related

im having problems getting my vtec to engage the solenoid is fine( itested it with 12volts) and the pressure switch is new..i used a test light to help me trouble shoot it kinda..i hooked the test light up to the +battery terminal and stuck the pointy end in the solenoid plug on the motor and it light up real bright then i stuckit in the solenoid plug on the wire harness and it was real dim..does anyone know what that means? im having trouble understanding what i need to check for and hopefully fix.

TIA

I am not sure what kind of current your test light draws. It could be that your VTEC solenoid wire does have 12 volts but cannot supply enough current to both activate VTEC AND light up your test light. For this reason, I would measure the voltage with a voltmeter rather than a test light.
