Default What could be wrong??

While driving my car, it makes a noise from the engine bay on the drivers side that sounds somewhat like the sucking noise of an intake. i have a intake with a foam filter that i can hear every now and again but this is on the driver's side and is louder and only last several seconds and then it goes away and after several more seconds it starts back up. i notice it when cruising on the road and it just started not too long ago. if anyone have had this problem and fixed it let me know what it was and what you did to fix it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

okay i drove with the ac and cruise control off and it continued to make the noise. today i took an exit ramp (full loop) and the entire time it made the noise. i thought the noise was like the sucking noise but when i hear it for that period on the ramp it sounds like bearings spinning really fast if that make sense. oh and more important the car doesn't feel like it has the power it use too, went a lil over 7000 rpm's and didn't feel vtec engage. seems like its occuring more and this is day three since it started. let me know what else to check so i can troubleshoot some more and hopefully find and fix problem.

if it was the pulley wouldn't the noise be constant instead of randomly starting and lasting for a few seconds. tomorrow i will go outside and listen with the car idling to see if i can pinpoint where the sound is coming from. [sidenote -- the car is sluggish but found out that wife use low grade gas instead of premium. so this sound should have nothing to do with the power. pretty sure the gas has to do with the accelaration and the fact that vtec didn't feel as strong as it normally does.]

well, i put my car in the shop three weeks ago and they said that it sounded like the clutch went out. so i told them to install a new clutch. well couple days go by and i call and they haven't gotten too it yet, i went out of town and when i got back yesterday i called and they said that the clutch should be install today. so at noon today i call and now they say that they got bad news, the transmisson is mess up and needs to be replace. my car only has 58,000 miles on it. so i ask what is wrong with the transmission and they said they didn't know for sure but that it needs to be replace. so i need to know what transmissions would work for my car and where is a good place to order one. i really don't want to send alot of money so any info on a place with good prices would be greatly appreciated. i called a transmission shop and they said that it sounds like it should have been the clutch, and they advise me to go and see for myself if the tranny is bad. what do i look for to see if the tranny is bad, cause i don't want to get a new tranny if thats not the problem.

You really need to get your car towed to a real mechanic that knows what they are doing. If they don't know what's wrong with the tranny how can it be bad? They most likely broke something removing it and want you to pay for their mistake.
