ok, so ive been rebuilding my gsr motor for the past few weeks, (its taken so long because im on campus, and my motor is at home) and i just finished putting on the head a few days ago when i realized i never checked the piston ring clearance...i used o/s itr pistons with the oem o/s rings...dumb question, but, do i tear it all back down again and check the clearance, or is there a possibility that they will be fine?

 

ive gotten away with not checkin on my motor.
same setup as you. still runnin with no smoke for 2.5 years.

You could get away with it, but then again it stilla gamble. Think of it this way...spend another 50 bucks on a head gasket, or drop the motor in run it for a few weeks and end up with broken rings, or smoke like crazy. If you hardly have any time to do it right the 1st time, what makes you think you will have time to do it again?
