What causes a high NO reading?
Posted this in the Integra forum and didn't have much luck. I figure you guys might know.
I went through emissions today and I barely passed. My NO reading was 1018.0 and the limit is 1026.0. This was at a constant 25 mph test. Now I was waiting in line for about 1.5 hours to do this so could that have anything to do with it to? What causes a high NO reading?

to much timing advance, running lean, over heating.............
check to see your o2 sensor is in good working condition.
what were the readings/limits for HC and CO?

Here's all the results:
HC: 43.9/141.0 Max
CO: 0.55.0.79 Max
NO: 1018.3/1026.0 Max
Timing is stock as far as I know (had the car for over a year now and never touched it), doesn't ever ping or detonate so I don't think it's running lean, and the car never show signs of overheating although the stock coolant gauge sucks.

looks like the guy who did the e-test didnt to a proper warm up.......CO and HC should have been much lower...........a hot converter would have brought NOx lower as well.............
I was waiting in line for about 1.5 hours and the car was idling for most of the time in 85 degree weather so I think it was warmed up sufficiently. Could my Cat be going bad? I know sometimes when I'm going up a long hill and I stay in second gear I get a nasty smell like NO. Could that be the cat going out?
letting the car sit for longer than 15min will cool the converter enough to cause bad readings............even in 90+ deg weather i always pre-warm the converter.
holding the rpm up to 2000-2500rpm for 3-5min before the accual test is performed...........especially on 4 cylinder honda's the converter somtimes takes a long time to warm up......

My car did sit idling with no one in it for 10-15 minutes or so while they changed the filter on the test equipment. Oh well I passed. Don't need to worry about it for another 2 years. Thanks for the help!
