What blew up?
Ok, 93 Civic CX w/ a D16Z6. Timing belt and tensioner replaced 2k ago. TIming belt is rubbing on case and squeaking.
Then today, I noticed my cars temp was all the way up! I stop, turn the car off and pop the hood. Steam coming from the lower area of the timing case. Radiator fluid was all over. Was this my water pump. And a
to me, cause it hasn't been changed ever, from 100k - 215k. Just want to make sure.
If not, what? Cause I got a CX in the garage I can drop in 4hrs.
FYI: Honda wanted $350+ tax part and labor
My shop wanted $140+tax part and labor

To day I heard a prelude W/ a bad water pump. the sound of the bad bearings sounded alot like something ratteling on the timing cover. If there is colant then that probably the colpret if not check for shiney metal flakes near that area.
Yeah, it was the water pump. If I knew how post a pic I would. The thing broke in half! Runs perfect now. New pump from Honda $70 and $70 labor from my shop, 1 1/2 hrs of work....$140 flat out the door.
