What Blew? pics inside
I dont know your setup or anything so I will take a guess. Maybe you got some piston to valve contact and chipped a valve? Take a dollar bill and put it to your exhaust if it gives any tug in then its a chipped valve. Thats all I can think of from the info you gave. Seems to definetely be the head though.
notes
-have been burning small amounts of coolant for awhile
-checked oil cap, no creamy residue
-felt like it lost compression and power
-clicking sound when driven
-horrible idle, sounds like the engine is dying
-started her up again, its leaking coolant badly where the head meets the block on the driver side

Definately a blown head gasket. I agree that the clicking might be a spun bearing, which you could have done if you got some antifreeze in your oil or ran it very low on oil.
looks like a head gasket to me, could have been caused by overheating, Lean burn, too much boost (in turbo apps) or a warped head/block. Just throw a new one on. Its a pain but not a hard fix.

or you could have overheated and lost viscosity in your oil and thats what cause the bearing to spin, if that even happened.
Deffinately head gasket though

you will hear a clicking when you blow a head gasket, I have to say one thing quicky and that is a blown head gasket has nothing to do with a spun bearing. what could have happened is when and if you blew the head gasket the water or anti-freeze mixed with the oil, you will see what looks like milk shake (chocolate of course) on the dipstick this is bad for your bearings because if you kept driving it that thin layer of oil that was in between the bearing surfaces and the crank is no longer there and of course this will eat away at the bearings causing excessive bearing clearance and then there will be a knocking sound coming from under the hood! possible symptoms of blown head gasket -car will overheat, have loss of power, and smoke out the tailpipe, or check the oil see if it's milk shaked
Well I have a different opinion than everyone else. I would look toward a broken piston skirt. With a broken skirt, the piston will rock in the bore. When it hits top dead center, the rocking will actually allow the piston to slap the cylinder head in one corner. There seems to be little oil control available and causing large amounts of blow by causing the smoke and oil.
The noise you get is kind of ticking noise like a valve out of adjustment.
