hi im bout to buy a GSR block off a friend, it's been in a front end collision and the drivers side engine mount cracked, its still there it jsut needs to be hammer backe into place and welded, is this safe?? i've seen it done before but i havent found any upsides or downsides or any info about it. also would there be any problems with a motor from a crashed vehicle? is there a possibility the engine can be messed up ? thanks
the motor could be messed up, just look at it is all, and crank the crank with a 19mm socket...
you should also always performa a compression test on motors bought, get the tool at your local auto parts tool, 25 bux...
and if you can weld a 1" thick diesel work truck's axle after it snapped(some guys story today that he was telling me, lol), then i assume a mount wont be a problem as long as you get a good welder to do it..

The mount will unbolt from the block with 3 bolts. When you have the motor out, pull the lower timing belt cover off and unbolt it. Then just bolt another to it. Piece of cake.
