ok i just swapped a d16a in my 97 civic ex and when i start the engine it runs like crap for about a minute will usually die a couple times but then will barely run and then runs fine and idles fine but it never does idle high for warm up just stays around 800rpm. im getting only a code 6.
so i started off by replaceing the sensor because i already had an extra one from the y8 and it did the same thing. so next i checked the voltage at the sensor and its getting 12 volts. i know it should only have 5 unless im wrong? i cant find a manuel to save my life i know there on hondahookup but ive been trying to log in for a week and it wont let me. i have a p28 that i bought when i got the engine so i thought that could of been the problem i would of checked at the comp if it was sending 12v but i dont have a diagram to know which wire it is i did check one that i thought it may have been and it was 12v but anyway so i have an extra p28 w/ s300 and i hooked it up to try it. it started up fine and didnt have the problem but its still throwing the code and the s300 is reading 177 degrees when i start up and 150 when it warms up and the idle stays at around 1500 the whole time.. im assuming its some kind of wiring issue but can anyone send me a link to a manuel or something that would help i would really appreciate it. thx.
also i used the same wiring harness from the y8 and when i had the y8 running i actually used a p28 for a little becasue i didnt have the 2nd o2 and the p28 would get rid of the cel and i never had anyproblem w/ it. i stoped using it because i put the s300 in it for a build im doing and just didnt want to use it.

Dude, since you got a '97 EX, why would you put an A1 engine in there, that's back in the days like 1988-1991? You should of got the Y8 engine instead, or a Y7, or Y5.

sorry guy i forgot its a d16a its identical to a z6. and i got that because if i decide to do anything performance wise i would rather have a z6 and the p28 then the y8. i put the y8 intake manifold on it so its basically a y8. plus my exhaust doesnt have a second o2 and i would throw a code all the time or have to put one in it but would still throw a code cause i dont have a cat. plus it was a little cheaper
actually i prolly could of found a y8 cheaper somewhere but this was my only working car and the engine took and **** so i needed something asap got the engine and tranny for 800.

The red/white wire is the onewith 12v dont remember what color the other wire is and can't look because Im out of town and don't have the car with me. The other wire doesn't have any voltage. Any ideas?

ok I was wrong the wires are blue with black line and black. The blue one is the one with 12v also the ecu is a p28-02 but i opened it and it's different inside then my other p28 and there's a word that looks German stamped on the label so idk if that has anything to do with anything.
it sounds like you either have the wrong plug on the ect sensor, or you dont have enough grounds on the engine. the ect uses the engine as its ground and if the motor and the tranny are not grounded in several locations you will get false readings.

Connector can't be wrong because it's the only one that would reach I checked the other coolant connector that's the same and it's getting 12v also and there's no way it could reach. As for the ground I checked them b4 and I have the one on the main harness to power the ecu and one on each end of the engine and tranny so three total I'll check again tommorow but I think that's all there is. Thanks for the help.
