Default weird bearing tolerance issue on assembly

go figure,

i finally get around to assembling my motor after being torn down for a year. i ordered all the same bearing colors (oem) that came out of the motor. (keep in mind the last build had around 13k miles and it ran fine.)

all my old plastigauge results were perfect, like between .0014 and .0018.

i through the new bearings(same colors in same journals with same block and crank. no line hone or work to the crank was done ) in and it came out wayyy to tight, like .0009 to .0011.

so i put the old bearings in and re-plastigauge, same result.. i wondered if the heat had anything to do with it, so i put some bearings in the fridge for a while and tried again, nothing changed.

net result i ordered new bearings again 2 sizes down that should put me right around .0015.

what would cause this to happen? i wasnt really anticipating spending another 250 bucks for new main/rod bearings. summer is gonna be over by the time this thing gets up, running and tuned...

If you're using a torque wrench it's probably not calibrated. Probably stored on a torque setting instead of being backed off all the way.

Borrow a different one a recheck.

using a torque wrench, i always keep it on 0 in its own drawer of my toolbox. i have another one i will use to double check, but i think your supposed to recalibrate like every 1000 uses and im no where near that its a relatively new wrench. good spot to check ill do it tomorrow b4 it gets too hot

Was it the same plastigage you used last time?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it can get old and dry out.
