My car started overheating last night. It was overheating at idle, but when I started moving the temp went down. Today when I arrived home there was a lot of water coming from the belt side of the engine. Could my water pump be leaking and causing my engine to overheat? Did search for this topic was not happy with results. This is why I am posting this thread. I already know that my radiator is sludgy, and that my fan does not seem to work. I don't have a way to test the fan and see if maybe the motor is burnt out. Please help!
fush your coolant system.
to test the radiator motor--- use jumper wires. one is positive and the other one is negative. put them directly to the battery and you will find out if the motor is working.
if water is leaking by the belt area you will have to replace your water pump.
replace the thermostad too!!
good luck
