ok.....im really really dumb. i swapped a gsr motor into my hatch and when i was doing it i saw this pump with a pulley im like heyyyyy ill just leave that off thinking its a damn power steering pump which i dont need and could free up some horses but im getting a feeling that its the water pump. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHERE THE HOSE WOULD GO FROM IT THOUGH?? the motor was doin good and the day was goin good until i saw my temp gauge about to start another round lol.

the water pump is on the block, driven off the timing belt.

Your motor wouldn't run with no water pump, the timing belt wouldn't fit.

If the pulley wasin the back, it's the alternator. If the pully is on something on the front n top, it's the power steering. If the pulley is on the bottom of the front, it's the A/C.

I dont think that taking off one of these was the cause...is your cooling fan working properly? Perhaps your radiator isn't up to the task of cooling the larger motor.

yeah it was the power steering pump but i guess i was desperate for an explanation... uhm i put a new thermostat in today and it wasnt that. and i watched after it warmed up to 1/3 and no fan!! then at half way point still no fan!! so i guess i dont have to think about whats going on very much huh lol. but i cant see my fan making much of a difference. i understand that i need to most likely get a teg one maybe but ive seen a few people running dohc's in their hBs' and not having this problem. but i will get my fan taken care of friday.

try connecting yor fan straight to the battery to eliminate it. Or jump the thermosensor switch in the back of the block (or is it there on a gsr), to see if its the switch.
