Default warped head?

is there any kind of test that you can do to see if you have a warped head without having to take off the head? thanks

It depends how badly it's warped. If the total deflection is 0.001", the head gasket should seal fine. If it's more like 0.100", you're going to have problems.

ive heard that you can take your coolant to a radiator shop and have it tested for hydrocarbon? and that will determine if you have a bad hg

A hydocarbon test will only prove that maybe your head gasket could be blown or you have a blown cylinder wall and exhaust gases are mixing with your coolant. There are quicker ways to test for that.

What are you really looking for hear? Why do you think your head is warped? Are you burning coolant after you just replaced a HG or something. Why do you want to test if your head is warped? Not that it really matters because as far as I know most shops don't carry an xray that can scan an engine and look inside for warped surfaces.
