Jesus, that is a lot. If it needs that much, it is REALLY warped. Has the head been milled before? Take it to a machine shop, they will measure it and tell you much it needs to be milled. Remember, check your piston to valve clearance (after you get it milled).

.004-.005 is not that much, i milled mine .040, have the head checked to see if its warped, if it is then a have the correct amount milled off.

The machine shop should be able to mill it just enough to clean up the surface. You dont want to take off any more than you have to.

I had this same problem. I went .007" and I'm pretty happy with the results. I can run 87 octane gas fine, although I usually try to get 91 if it's available.

what engine do you have? You should be able to mill ATLEAST .030" or 30 thousandths. IF you are running 95 octane there won't be a problem.

You know, the more you mill, the more it retards your cam timing right? You can do the math. The closer the cams get to the crank, the more off the cams get. Think about the tensioner and the long run of the belt. The closer they get, the more the cam pully wants to rotate clockwise (and the more the tensioner tightens the belt). . Most people use adjustable timing pulleys to get the timing right again.

Honda says the service limit on a shave is .010 and they recommend a .005 shave to clean up the head surface. That means after .010 you're supposed to get a new head (I know people don't, I'm just repeating what it says in the manual).

I just looked the specs up

Resurface if warpage is 0.002-0.008 (0.05-0.20mm), Resurfacing is not needed if unless then 0.002 (0.05). Max. resurface limit is 0.008 (0.20mm).

This what honda says.

BTW, B18c and B16a are the same in terms of warpage.

Yep, I agree. I must have been thinking of something else.
