Warped Front Rotors
one (or both) of the front rotors are bent/warped. Is this normal? Where can i get rotors cheap? What other cars fit on the 98 Accord? I would like to increase the rotors and calipers if possible since im usually hard on the brakes.
Thanks for any help

Rotors usually warp because of the heat built up when you ride the brakes alot. Thats why they made cross-drilled and slotted rotors, both systems let heat out. If you are driving normal its best to get slotted rotors. People say that cross drilled rotors are only neccesary for auto cross and real hard driving. Plus people say that they eat up brake pads alot.

cross drilled or dimple drilled (www.raceconcepts.com) woods ly - he's pretty cool.

good logic...
that's probably why most automobile engineers don't use either slotted or cross-drilled when cars come off the factory line. brake pads... hmmm
both rotors almost cost as much...

Cross-drilled and slotted rotors were not made to dissapate heat faster. They were made a long time ago because brake pads used to give off gases, and these rotors gave the gases somewhere to go. All you need are some good rotors (OE Brembo blanks) and some good pads. Go to http://www.carbotecheng.com for some help.

The number one cause for warped rotors is improperly torqued lug nuts, not overheating. Must of the time, it is from having the dealer work on your car and they use an air wrench to tighten the hell out of the lugs. When the rotors heat up and cool down under normal driving they will warp.
Buy a torque wrench and re-torque the lugs when you get the car home. Check in your service manual for the proper torque setting.
BTW, like someone posted before, slotted and drilled rotors will not solve the problem. Actually, with less material in the rotor, it could be worse.

You can get your stock rotors TURNED at Pep Boys for about $12 for both. They'll inspected your rotors and let you know if your rotors are in our out of oem rotor-turning range...and if you need to buy new rotors.
what's wrong with your stock braking system anyways? 98 accord should have a sufficient braking system from the factory. You might wanna upgrade your pads though to something aftermarket that can handle heat better than OEM pads. Drilled rotors aren't necessarily the key. Slotted rotors, on the other hand might be something to look into.
