Default vtec vs non vtec dizzy looks same

so while trying to fix my p30 dizzy because the remanufactured dizzy sucks i found out that all of them seem to be identical besides the actual casting.

i have 4 distributors 2 p30 and 2 p06
all 4 are obd1

i took 2 of them completely apart and inside they are all identical.
even the stamps on main shaft are same ( all say p06) same amount of teeth. same mounting position of the snail shell shaped part.

then i go read online and it says they are 180 degrees off because the snail part mounts differently. well ll 4 of mine are mounted the same way vtec and non vtec.

am i missing something?

UPDATE.
TD-41U
TD-42U
TD-44U
TD-44U
REMANUFACTURED DIZZY for DOHC VTEC

i inspected all 5 distributors while they were off the car.

side by side comparison shows that internally they are all identical.

the only difference is the casing
P30 casing rotates dizzy by 90 degrees it seems, compared to sohc vtec dizzy

now my photobucket is not working for some reason... ill upload pictures soon

AFAIK the snail shapped trigger is different and will misread cam position.

If you are saying you do not have the problem pictured in that link then go ahead and try it.

I would just swap the guts over to the proper housing.

what you mean?

i dont know what junkyards you have there but local yards remove distributors before it hits the yard( shops go there and strip all the good parts before they put it out in the yard)

In Louisiana junkyards only remove the gas tank and the battery before the car is put n the yard. Other than that, they are put out as complete running cars. I've brought a gas can and jump box to the junkyard before and had cars running to make sure the part I needed is good.
