VTEC TROUBLE
i am running a B18c5 in my ek.... i was running a gsr ecu, i think the year was 97, the same year as the car..... well.... the vtec worked fine.... however the idle was jumpy and the check engine light would come on.... well... i changed the ecu to a p73(for higher reving purposes).... it was a 97, the same year as the motor.... the car would run good, the idle was good, the check engine light wouldnt come on, but when i would pound it..... the VTEC would kick in like at 5600 rpms and would go until like 7000 rpms and then kick out.... like jerk (bog out....) at first me and my friends thought the motor wasnt getting enough fuel so we changed the fuel pump to a gsr fuel pump.... but the same thing would happen.... so do you think i just have a jacked up ecu or my wiring is hashed.....
......could someone please help me..... your advice would be greatly appreciated.......

This may not be too much of a help... but I had a VERY similar problem with mine. It would kick in, but towards the end of vtec it almost cut off. The problem were no gaskets in my cat. So I replaced with high flow cat, fixed problem. A guy from a honda dealership told me that vtec is pretty sensitive (wont work with low oil, too cold, etc.) he said even when air flow isnt correct it will basically shut off. Not sure if that helps.
