Default Vtec and the speedo.. simple question..

Simple question,

does vtec engage even if the speedo is inoperable?? i've got a 93 hatch w/ a 94 gsr and my speedo doesn't work from time to time.. i'm just concerned because i'm gonna get my car tuned eventually on the dyno and don't want to waste my time or money if the tuner can't tune the motor properly because of the vtec engagement issue....

thanks in advance..

I personally would get that fixed before tuning.

yes the cluster has nothing to do with it, all signals from the ecu

but a guy i know used to run his gsr hatch w/ just his autometer tach gauge installed in his hatch w/ his instrument panel and it seemed to work fine for him, so what is the real answer now?? i haven't really gotten a straight answer... much more input would be appreciated b4 i get it tuned...

on a side note, why would the speedo have any input on the tuning aspect, its just there to indicate speed.. if the cluster is at fault, i dont know how it would keep the vtec from functioning properly....
