a d-series vtec solenoid will work on a b-series motor, so a b-series vtec solenoid will work a b-series motor, only big differnece is if its a JDM or USDM vtec solenoid, get a USDM vtec solenoid and you'll be fine, you can run jdm and usdm ecu's and hit vtec, just get one off another b-series or d-series motor not sure about h-series though..... i used a d-series vtec solenoid on my B16B and works like a champ, later on

I don't think a d-series will work on a b-series. I ran into this issue when I was doing my b16 swap. I think you should just use the solenoid meant for the b-series.

I heard somewhere that using a CTR solenoid will improve performance...I have seen no further evidence to back up this claim.

the solenoid only controls the oil passage to activate vtec nothing else
so its just hype....

all b-series are the same, besides the 1gen b16 heads, wich is different.
you can use a D series vtec spool and sol. on a B series; but the vtec oil pressure switch will be pointing towards the fromt of the car.

I have a p72 head and want to know as well bcause I am having a hard time finding a used spool assembly. You cant just buy it alone, you have to get the oil press sensor, vtec solenoid and spool assembly as a complete unit. anyone have one for sale?

The people that have used a d-series spool assemblu on a p72 head please comment.
