vtec solenoid wire voltage
what do you guys get for a voltage reading from the vtec solenoid wire? when the key is ON but not running, and what do you get as a reading when the car is running
?
please, i need answers from all different bseries motors, and different ecu's, hopefully a few 1st gen (pr3 's ) as well!

ive not tested this in practce but here is the theory:
when vtec engages i think it would be 12v (or maybe 5v)
why do you ask?
anyone gone out to measure this 'live'?

its 12v when vtec is engaged
when the car is on or idling or anything below the vtec engagment it should be 0 volts.
to test the solenoid, disconnect the 1pin connector (green maybe? its the one with 1 wire inside)
touch a wire to the pos. terminal on the battery, then the solenoid side of the green connector.
it should click. if it does the solenoid is fine.

PS the solenoid must remain grounded when doing this test above,
ie the metal body of the solenoid needs to be touching the chassis/engine or 'earth'
(just thought i'd clarfiy your good comments KAMiN

what voltage should you get from the green wire? not solenoid side
i get 10volts when the key is ON, motor not running
is this right?
and when the car is running (idle) it is 12v...
the ecu is a pr3
